Freeze right there! - Freeze Panes

What is it?

Freeze panes is a very handy function. It enables you to “freeze a portion of the sheet to keep it visible while you scroll through the rest of the sheet. This is useful for checking out data in other parts of your worksheet without losing your headers or labels.” - Microsoft Excel

Freeze panes are useful when your data is large requiring you to scroll down. There are three options in terms of what you can freeze:

  1. Freeze Panes: you can choose which row or column you’d like to freeze

  2. Freeze Top Row

  3. Freeze First Column

To activate ‘Freeze Panes’, click the VIEW tab > Under “Window” click “Freeze

Panes”.

If you want to freeze a row / column that is neither the top or first row / column, highlight one row / column before the one you want to freeze, click the VIEW tab > Under “Window” click “Freeze Panes” and select “Freeze Panes”.

To unfreeze, click the VIEW tab > Under “Window” click “Freeze Panes” and select “Unfreeze Panes”.
